About the project

Renewable Energy Systems Canada Inc. (RES) is proposing to develop, build and operate a battery energy storage project of up to 350 MW, adjacent to the existing Spence switching station in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Ontario. The purpose of the project would be to provide the provincial electric system with reliability services needed to support increasing electricity demand. This would not involve any on-site electric power generation.

All Project components together are  expected to occupy no more than 20-30 acres, situated within a single parcel of land. It would be comprised of various technologies allowing the system to charge and discharge electricity on demand.
